Tax refund at Avinor airports

You may have VAT reimbursed when you buy goods in Norway and bring them with you when leaving the country. This only applies to individuals who are resident abroad. You can use agents like Planet and Global Blue or do it yourself.

Use an agent

There are two private companies Planet and Global Blue that operate in Norway. These companies have agreements with several stores in Norway regarding the repayment of value added tax for goods sold to tourists. The VAT is refunded by that company's representative on departure from Norway.

Common for the private companies:

  • Ask the shop staff for a Tax Free Form if you shop for more than 315 NOK in a store.
  • Fill in all the required fields on the form before you get to the airport.
  • To get a refund, you must export goods bought in Norway within 30 days from the date of purchase.
  • You must be resident in countries other than Sweden, Denmark and Finland, cannot have residence in Svalbard or Jan Mayen.

Go to the company's website for full information on terms/conditions Global Blue and Planet

Do it yourself

Follow the instructions on the Norwegian Customs website https://www.toll.no/no/turist/tax-free/

It is not the Norwegian Customs that refunds the VAT. You must check with the store you shop in, about how you can get Norwegian VAT refunded from the store.
