Check-in

Where can I check in?

Check-in areas in the departures hall are clearly marked with signs. To find your check-in counter, look at the monitors in the departures hall. If you have checked in in advance and only have hand luggage, you can go directly to the security check.

When should I be at the airport?

How early you need to be at the airport varies from airline to airline. Check your ticket or contact your airline for the exact check-in time. The most common check-in times are:

  • Domestic: Check-in at least one hour prior to departure.
  • International: Check-in at least 1.5 hours prior to departure.
  • Charter : Check-in counters open two hours prior to departure and close one hour before departure.
  • Direct flights to the USA: Please note that direct flights to the U.S. are subject to special rules. It is common that the check starts 3 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before departure.

Do I have to check in?

If you already have checked in and only have hand baggage, you may proceed directly to the security check.

If you have baggage you need to check, you can print bag tags at the check-in machines at the airport. Attach them to your baggage, and hand it over at the counter marked "bagdrop".
You must always be able to show travel documents, boarding card or electronic ticket in the security check.

In order to save time, please have your tickets and passport ready, and make sure your hand baggage only contains valuables and items you may need during your flight.

Using the check-in machines

The easiest way to check in is to use the self-service check-in machines. They are located near your airline's check-in area. This is where you select your seat and print your boarding card.

Online and mobile check-in

Many airlines offer online or mobile check-in. Here you have the opportunity to check in in advance, select your favourite seat, make changes and find other information. Visit your airline's website to learn more about these services.

Self-service baggage drop

You can drop off your checked baggage in a simple and efficient way. You may only drop off checked baggage weighing up to 20 kg. Bags weighing more than 20 kg must be brought to a staffed counter. Backpacks with straps must be checked in at the staffed special baggage counter.

Airlines may operate with their own rules for the use of the self-service baggage drop.
