Traveling with children

If you need help finding, for example, special baggage check-in or the nearest restroom/changing room, you can use the information kiosk located by the large meeting point pillar in the departure hall. It is a touch screen where you will find maps, information, and directions to what you're looking for.

There are strollers available for free at Oslo Airport.

You can find these just after the security check and in the area when you enter the international section of the airport. Note that during busy periods, you may experience a lack of available strollers.

Several places at Oslo Airport, you can buy baby food, and the staff are helpful with heating baby food/bottles at various eateries in the terminal.

You can find our nice play planes at gate C1, gate A12, and at the train station. Munti Magic consists of two digital screens where children can color different planes and send them up to a big screen, located between gate D3 and D5. A play area with climbing frames can be found at gate F14.

As a general rule, a passport or ID card with a photo is required to verify identity even domestically, and alternative methods for ID checks and/or accompanying the child vary from airline to airline. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the requirements of your airline if you have a child traveling alone.   

Children of any age must have their own passport for trips that require this out of Norway, and are no longer included in the parents' passport. See how to apply for a child's passport on the police's website.

Both strollers and child seats are special baggage! Check in the stroller or seat in the usual way at the counter or kiosk, and you will receive a separate baggage tag.

Take the baggage to a designated counter for special baggage. 

It is possible to purchase bags that protect the stroller/seat; remember to attach the baggage tag clearly visible on the outside of the bag.

If you want to protect the stroller extra well during the journey, you can rent equipment for this at Airshells, which you can find at certain airports. 

On longer flights, it may be worth considering renting a baby crib for the little ones, via Airshells which you can find at certain airports.  

Children can travel alone from the age of 5.

Children between 5 and 12 years old traveling alone receive a folder with travel information that they must wear visibly throughout the journey. The rules may vary from company to company, so remember to check with your airline which rules apply to your trip. You receive the folder from the airline at check-in.   

If children traveling alone need to change planes, they are taken care of by the airline.

A guardian can accompany children traveling alone domestically or abroad all the way to the plane. You will receive an escort pass when you check in. 

If the journey is outside the Schengen area, a guardian can accompany them to the passport control.

The airline is responsible for the child throughout the entire journey.  

Even though it's not allowed to bring liquids, you can still bring food and drinks necessary for the trip, such as baby food and formula. The containers can hold more than 100 ml and do not need to be packed in a transparent, sealable plastic bag.

Take the baby food out of the carry-on baggage when you go through security. Random samples may be taken of the contents during the security check.

Yes, empty drinking bottles are allowed. You can fill water at one of the airport's water stations.
